2 Years & 3 Months

I got the distinct hankering to blog today while covering our receptionist's lunch break (where I have a complete hour to do absolutely nothing but smile and say hi to people.)   Why, after over 2 years of silence, I wanted to write today is a complete mystery to me.  But before the urge passes me by never to return, I'm taking this opportunity to update the blogger world on the Olivet family.  Now, if I'll only update my blog header.

So here we are today with 5 kids ages 16, 14, 9, 8 and 6 (did you notice that we still have the same number of kids - pretty impressive for this family!).  The last time I blogged we had a wee tot in preschool - now all 5 are tucked safely in school.  The last time I blogged we only had 2 drivers in our family - now we are a 3 driver household with 3 cars to (gag) insure.  The last time I blogged our baby, Molly Kate, was adjusting to life in our family after only being home 6 months - now she is an amazing, confident, hell-raising member of our family .  Life is good, but super busy and oftentimes downright crazy.

Updates on the kids:
  • Piper was accepted into a school for the arts where she can spend enormous amounts of time focusing on her passion, ballet.  I'm not sure ballet will put food on her table in the future, but for now that's her dream and we're going with it. She spent last summer in Florida with the Orlando Ballet and is spending this summer in Austin, TX training with the American Ballet Theater. She's also super-smart and can make friends with a brick wall.
  • Kai and Ash have played baseball, basketball and football (flag only- they're tiny) and are involved in gymnastics and boy scouts.  They are finally differing in the things they like and don't like so we run around to different activities to keep everyone happy.  Kai loves to read and ride his bike and Ash loves to do anything that involves balls or making people laugh.
  • Molly Kate started kindergarten and is a total spit-fire.  She's adorable, bossy (oops, isn't there an internet campaign to lose that word?), and isn't afraid of anything....and I mean ANYTHING.  We pray nightly for the man that she will marry one day.  He needs to be a very strong man or she will run all over him.  She will have heart surgery in the next 5 years to repair her TOF but she's doing well now so the doctors just want her to keep growing.
  • JD is freaky-smart (unlike his mom) and has amazing taste in girls.  He's been dating the same (extremely impressive, I wouldn't mind being her mother-in-law) young lady for over 6 months.  He has a car, a job, and a bright future.  He's making plans for college and is strongly leaning toward a career in pharmacy or chemistry (although I don't really know what chemists do in the real world?)  As you can tell, he definitely has the first-born overachiever personality.
Now it's time for pictures.  How do I condense 2 years worth of memories in one post?  Not possible, but I'll try by adding some of my favorites.
